Bronchial mucus is a biofluid whose rheological properties—viscosity, elasticity, and tan delta—reflect the inflammatory state of the airways and the efficiency of mucociliary clearance. Pathological mucus (COPD, cystic fibrosis, asthma, etc.) exhibits high viscosity and elasticity. Rheonova has developed RheoMuco, a device designed for the rapid and objective measurement of bronchial mucus, in collaboration with the University Hospitals of Grenoble and Lyon.
