About Us
Rheonova : a laboratory specializing in industrial rheology, accessible and operational since 2014
Rheonova was born out of a simple conviction: rheology should not be confined to laboratories.

Our History:
from academic research
in Grenoble to the rheology industry
Rheonova supports professionals by combining training, analysis and the development of simple instruments.
At the Rheology and Processes Laboratory at the University of Grenoble Alpes, Jérémy Patarin identified a major gap between the potential of this science and its actual application in industry.
2011
Turned this vision into a business with a clear goal: to make rheology accessible, practical, and useful for manufacturers.
2014
Rheonova became a rheometer manufacturer with Rheomuco, the first rheometer dedicated entirely to respiratory health.
2019
Rheonova expanded its product line and developed easyRheo, an industrial rheometer entirely designed and manufactured in France.
2024
Rheonova became the exclusive distributor for EKO Instrument and Trijet Limited, distributing their rheometers throughout Europe and France.

Expert insight

Jérémy Patarin
President of Rheonova and Chief Rheologist
Our customers often come to us with a simple request: to measure the viscosity of their product. They sense that something about its flow behavior explains the challenges they’re facing an unstable process, a product that’s difficult to apply, or performance that varies for no apparent reason.
But the discussion almost always begins with a surprise: viscosity is merely the gateway to rheology. My job is precisely to shift the focus. Behind the same viscosity value, completely different behaviors can be hidden. The truly decisive property often lies elsewhere: a flow stress threshold that prevents the product from flowing, elasticity that disrupts the process, a restructuring time that’s too long, or even a misidentified thermal transition.
We begin by conducting exploratory measurements. This initial data serves primarily to ask the right questions. Gradually, we help our clients identify the key property that governs their actual challenge. From there, we work together to design a targeted rheological study—not to accumulate results, but to clearly demonstrate the link between the measurement and the product’s industrial application.
What is particularly important to me is that our clients do not remain dependent on outside expertise. We support them until they have mastered the method, understand their data, and have the appropriate tools at their disposal. They then become self-sufficient and discover that rheology is no longer just a diagnostic tool, but a true driver of innovation and control over their formulations and processes. The most satisfying moment is often when a client tells us, “Actually, rheology is useful.”
Frequently asked questions about Rheonova
What is Rheonova?
Rheonova is a laboratory specializing in rheology, founded in 2014 in Gières (Grenoble) by Jérémy Patarin, who holds a Ph.D. in fluid mechanics. Rheonova is a manufacturer of rheometers (easyRheo, Rheomuco), the exclusive distributor of complementary instruments (FV-30, TriPAV), a provider of rheological analysis services, and a Qualiopi-certified training organization.
Is Rheonova independent of equipment manufacturers?
Yes and no. Rheonova manufactures the EasyRheo and Rheomuco, two instruments designed and assembled in France. For the FV-30 and TriPAV, Rheonova is the exclusive distributor. This dual role, manufacturer AND distributor, ensures that our recommendations are based on customer needs, not on a single product catalog.
Where is Rheonova based?
Rheonova is based in Gières, in the Grenoble metropolitan area (Isère, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes). Our instruments are designed and assembled on-site. We operate throughout France and internationally, with a network of exclusive distributors in Japan, Spain/Portugal, South Korea, and Italy.
Which industrial sectors do you serve?
Rheonova serves companies in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food and beverage, paints and coatings, polymers and materials chemistry sectors. We also work in the medical field, particularly on the rheology of bronchial mucus for respiratory diseases (COPD, cystic fibrosis) and with academic research laboratories.
How does Rheonova differ from Anton Paar or TA Instruments?
Anton Paar and TA Instruments are global manufacturers of modular rheometers designed for specialists. Rheonova takes a different approach: we are an independent French company that combines the manufacture of affordable instruments (easyRheo), outsourced analytical services, training, and consulting, all under one roof. Our pricing is tailored to industrial SMEs, and we provide personalized support. We select our distributors based on their ability to help users leverage rheological properties for industrial and scientific purposes.
