A powder does not exhibit a single flow behavior, but rather several different behaviors depending on the stresses it undergoes: storage in a silo, flow through a hopper, dosing, granulation, or compaction. Issues such as a flow stoppage in a hopper, uncontrolled dosing, or a compacted coating powder that blisters and breaks upon impact are often caused by a misidentified material behavior. A simple density measurement is not sufficient to predict a powder’s actual behavior in a process. How can i send you my samples?

We provide you with a shipping protocol tailored to the nature of your products (temperature, packaging, delivery times). A sample description form is sent to you at the time of your order so that the analysis can be performed under conditions representative of your actual use.

How much of a sample should I send?

Generally, a few dozen grams are sufficient for most standard rheological analyses. We’ll specify the exact volume based on the selected protocols, certain analyses of biofluids or rare raw materials can be performed on very small volumes.

What are your turnaround times?

Standard turnaround times are 5 to 25 business days after receipt of the sample. Express turnaround times are available for urgent situations. We will confirm the exact turnaround time when you place your order.

What does the technical report I receive look like?

You will receive a structured report that includes: complete operating conditions (equipment, geometry, protocol, temperature), curves and raw data, an interpretation of the results by our experts, and concrete recommendations for your formulation or process. The report can be used directly for a regulatory filing or a formulation meeting.

Will I receive the raw data?

Yes. You will receive the exported raw data (in Excel or CSV format), the annotated graphs, and the interpretation report. This allows you to integrate them into your own quality monitoring tools or development files.

Can the report be used in a regulatory submission (EMA, FDA submission, Ph. Eur.)?

Yes, our reports are prepared with this in mind for pharmaceutical clients. We specify the applicable standards (Ph. Eur. 2.2.10, ISO 3219, GMP/GLP) and traceability requirements. For submissions requiring specific accreditation, we will guide you toward the appropriate solution.

Can we implement regular rheological monitoring of our production batches?

Yes. We offer monitoring contracts with periodic analyses of your batches, allowing for the rapid detection of any rheological deviations before they impact your production or your customers.

What happens if the results reveal a complex issue that I don’t know how to interpret?

What rheological analyses do you offer for cosmetic products?

We characterize the viscosity of lotions and the rheology of moisturizing creams, the stability of O/W and W/O emulsions (accelerated aging, sedimentation, and creaming tests), as well as the texture of creams and sensory analysis (spreadability, smoothness, and creaminess). We also study the rheology of cosmetic gels and hydrogels.

What do you measure for food products?

We analyze the rheology of sauces, dressings, and condiments (ketchup, mayonnaise, tomato sauce), the viscosity and gelation of starch, biopolymers, as well as the rheology of yogurts, dairy products, and chocolate. We perform instrumental texture analysis (TPA: hardness, cohesion, firmness), evaluate drinkability and mouthfeel, and provide support for the formulation and stability of food suspensions.

What types of analyses do you perform on household products and detergents?

We measure the viscosity and rheology of liquid detergents (laundry detergent, dish soap, cleaners), the stability of suspensions (retention of active particles without sedimentation or separation), and the effectiveness of thickeners and structuring agents (polyacrylates, cellulose, guar). We characterize the flow-enhancing profile—flowability at the specified dosage, adhesion to vertical surfaces (toilet gels, sprays)—and monitor viscosity stability during storage at various temperatures to validate the product’s shelf life.

What pharmaceutical dosage forms do you characterize?

We study the viscosity of syrups and oral liquid formulations, the injectability and safety of administration of injectables, the rheology of pharmaceutical suspensions and emulsions, and that of topical semisolid formulations (ointments, creams, dermatological gels). We also characterize pharmaceutical powders (flowability, compressibility, Carr/Hausner indices) and the role of excipients in the release of the active ingredient.

What rheological analyses do you offer for polymers and plastics?

We characterize the rheology of molten and thermoplastic polymers, capillary rheology (melt flow index, MFI/MFR), injection molding and extrusion processes, extrusion swelling, and shaping. We also analyze thermosetting resins (curing of epoxy resins), polyolefins, elastomers, polymer composites, and recycled polymers.

What analyses do you perform for paints, coatings, and inks?

We measure Krebs (KU) and Brookfield viscosity, the rheology of coatings and coating performance, leveling and resistance to sagging, adhesion, and the stability of pigment suspensions. We characterize inks (inkjet, flexographic) and evaluate the effect of rheological additives (associative thickeners, thixotropic agents, HEUR/HASE).

How do you integrate rheology into quality control and industrial processes?

We offer online viscometry (in-line measurement), batch release and control based on viscosity, in-process control (IPC), and compliance with ISO 2884 (paints and varnishes). We also provide support for pump sizing, pressure drop calculations, tubular flow rheology, process qualification, and analysis of manufacturing drift and stability.
