The ability of a paint to spread evenly after application to eliminate tool marks (brush, roller, spray). Depends on low-shear viscosity (at rest) and structural recovery time. Good leveling requires low viscosity at rest (spreadability) but rapid recovery (anti-sagging). This critical parameter is optimized through oscillatory rheology and thixotropic testing.
