A material’s resistance to elongational (extensional) flow, as distinct from shear viscosity. It is particularly important in fiber spinning, film blowing, spraying, and inkjet printing processes. It cannot be measured with a rotational rheometer; it requires a specialized extensional rheometer such as the FV-30 distributed by Rheonova.
