A property of a material in which viscosity decreases under prolonged constant shear and gradually recovers at rest, in a reversible and time-dependent manner. This should be distinguished from shear thinning (an instantaneous effect). An essential characteristic of paints (anti-sagging), cosmetic gels, and many structured food products.
